Sir Jeremy Hackett visits "Maison Corthay", London

This week "Maison Corthay", London, had a very special visitor!
Storemanager Francois Pourcher was very pleased to welcome "Mr Classic" himself, Sir Jeremy Hackett, accompanied by the well-known Japanese photographer and journalist, Shu Tomioka.

On his blog www.jeremyhackett.com, he says:

I don't know about you but the recent trend for coloured shoelaces had completely passed me by; keep up Jeremy! A friend of mine, who is a shoe nut, sent me a text telling me about this current fashion phenomenon that was sweeping Milan. How could I have missed this revolution in Men’s fashion?

A few days later, I was passing a new shoe shop in Motcomb St called Corthay, a French bespoke shoemaker. In the window was a pair of black shoes with red shoelaces. Immediately I purchased the laces from the very charming and knowledgeable shop manager.
It struck me that here was a way to freshen up a pair of sensible black shoes or add a touch of colour to a pair of broken down battered brown brogues for the cost of a pair of shoelaces...

The Shoe Snob visits Maison Corthay London

Justin Fitzpatrick, owner of the blog The Shoe Snob and currently working at Gieves and Hawkes Ltd in London, visited MaisonCothay in London a few weeks ago.

"Back in late July of 2011, I went to Paris for a quick business trip and happened to have enough time to pop into the Corthay shop in hopes to meet the legend himself, Mr. Pierre Corthay. Unfortunately, at the time, he was away and therefore was unable to meet him but did meet his brother, who is also very much involved in the company. While it was still a lovely visit, I knew that there would always be a 'next time' for the opportunity to meet the man himself! That being, on Tuesday of last week, I was scrolling through Facebook or something of that nature (maybe a blog) and happened to notice that Mr. Pierre Corthay was coming to London for a trunk show on the Friday of that week. I knew that this was my chance, not only to meet him but to finally check out their new shop in London that had just opened last December, of which I had been meaning to go in order to give you all some info! Therein lied my opportunity to kill two birds with one stone!".....
